yea, i've been wanting to watch that show for ages.
theres 9 dvds out, and a tenth one coming out in 5 days. it really is a great show. its not always funny, like simpsons of family guy or anything, but the few jokes they do have more than make up for it. some cases 1 humourous moment can make up for the seriousness of an entire episode or 2. which i've never seen an episode that was 100% serious, but still.
I plan to see some of the movies. We don't have the series out here yet.

castle of cagliostro is a usual reccomendation, i'd recomend secret of mamo, it uses the same voices as the series and it's lupin at his most perverted(that i've seen so far).

IRT Dreamer: If the series has not been licensed in Hungary or another Hungarian-speaking country (not the case, although I've seen it's spoken by 1-3 mill in Romania), then perhaps there's an Hungarian fansubbing group that translated it from another language to Hungarian and released it there, or you could try to find a fansubbed version in English (or another language of your understanding).
Not a bad idea... I only understand hungarian and english, that's all ^^;; for now...
if you get any anime at all this has got to be on it's way some time. it's without a doubt one of, if not the single most popular anime in japan. 3 tv series(the 2nd, red jacket, series is the one we got, the longest running one), assloads of movies, and a tradition to have a new movie every year since '89
Heh, we have a few real crappy anime (1 exception) every night, that's all.
And ofcourse Pok?mon was here like 3 years ago, but that's all I can think of. The only one we really liked was Dragon Ball, but that was cancelled, and that was ages ago.

He's from an anime called "Samurai X". It has indeed released an OVA, but the primary cause for it's brilliance is from the animes which were released on dvd seperately. However, this anime has been released (and has already finished) for quite some time now, and is currently available as a box set, containing all the significant anime episodes, and a small film (the film serves as a momentary reference to an anime series which was released about Kenshin. These, in my opinion, aren't very enjoyable. The animation style is childish, and the very personalities exhibited by the characters (and Kenshin himself) is incredibly annoying.
But the seperate animes illustrated on the dvds are absolutely brilliant. It introduces you to a poignant story about the life of an aspiring samurai warrior. It also seems to be a particularly relevant metaphorical, and philosophical representation of the progression of the entire samurai tradition, and how it gradually diminishes as mankind advanced, and such disciplined teachings of Bushido became redundant (as a result of the introduction of guns and things). But this is all conveyed over about 10-12 episodes, across 3 dvds (not including the extra dvd for the movie). It's one of the best box sets of dvds I own, and "Samurai X" itself is one of my favourite animes ever.)
